Support BPK!

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

Bloomington Parkour is currently raising funds to cover the cost of equipment construction and facility rental fees for the Summer, in order make our free public classes possible during this time. If that's all you need to hear, please click the donation link provided.

We are incredibly grateful for your support, and you WILL be hearing from us.

If that's not enough, then read on.

PArkour FOR THE COMMUNITY

Since Bloomington Parkour has been providing FREE instruction in the Art of Movement for anyone ages 7-70, here in Monroe County. In that time we have learned much about what it means to be part of this community.

-Being active in the community through Adopt-a-Margin and Pick it Up programs

-Hosting free parkour classes at The Banneker Center and The Warehouse

-Hosting workshops at:

Bloominglabs, Makevention, Wondercamp

MOVEMENT FOR EVERYONE

We believe that parkour should be a sport for everyone. Accessible, healthy, and lifelong....As it was always intended.

Our parkour lessons focus on healthy and sustainable movement, with an emphasis on creating a community of self improvement and progression. Everyone is treated as an athlete and supported on their journey towards overcoming real obstacles and expanding their skill set. More than social media clout, this is the real reason why so many people have found themselves involved in the sport of parkour. Overcoming fear and doubt, and pushing yourself further than you believed you could.

And so as this sport grows, so grows the need for BPK.

Parkour is part of the future

If you had said to someone 30 years ago that any US City government would SUPPORT Skateboarding, they wouldn't have believed it.

In the past, skateboarding was seen as an anti-social and destructive activity. It was met with hostility and calls for bans. Young people who skateboarded were looked down upon, and seen as dangerous or delinquent.

However, it became obvious to those who saw children actually involved in skateboarding that this was simply not the case. Through this sport, the young people had found community, and purpose, goals to achieve, and a very fun way to stay active and improve.

In recognizing this, Local governments all over the world started to re-think their understanding of skateboarding, and soon the construction of public skate parks was normal. Bloomington has 2.

Since its TV debut in 1997, Parkour has spread to every corner of the globe. In the UK, it is legally classified as a Sport. Though there are still many misconceptions about Parkour and understandable concerns about safety, it will only continue to Grow.

The REAL Question is: Will it grow WITH Bloomington?

We think it SHOULD and CAN. Here's how.

Our Commitment

By acting as a community organization, BPK can ensure that the best practices of Parkour are followed. For us, these are:

-Respect for yourself (mental and physical well being)

-Respect for your community (being a good neighbor, respecting public property)

-Respect for the environment (leaving no trace)

With education, outreach and regular public workshops, BPK can make sure that these principals are the foundation of our town's Parkour community.

What can you do?

As mentioned earlier, Bloomington Parkour is currently raising funds to cover the cost of equipment construction and facility rental fees in order make our free public classes sustainable during this time.

We are committed to a vision of accessible sport, where the only limit to your ability to achieve is the size of your determination and not the size of your wallet.

Those who try, learn, Those who learn, grow. And when you grow, you will grow others with you.

Thank you for reading, we hope to see you soon.
